At this juncture, the market environment is still unfavorable (since Jan 11 2008). We are in a bottoming process to prepare for the next cyclical bull market. Hypatia investments positions are still in short term money market holdings with a small proportion of the capital invested in gold securities.

You will have noted that no investment idea has been posted recently. At this juncture, it is wise to stay defensive as valuation and market action have not given any sign that a significant bottom is in. That does not mean that we should expect a negative outcome in term of investment performance: for example, in Australia there are income securities providing a annual return superior to 8%. That is not bad compared to the short term performance of the major equities indexes.
To put things into perspectives, have a look at the next chart (Australian index XAO), there should be nice buying opportunities coming in the next few years.
